HarvestNet Vision and Philosophy

LadyHarvest.gif (11217 bytes)

.
WE ARE CALLED BY THE LORD to be a  training center, based in Northeast Ohio. Our objective is to equip the next generation of  leaders and workers in both the church-place and  the marketplace for the massive harvest of souls that is coming to the greater Cleveland area,  the nation and the world.

We embrace the very vision of  the Lord of the harvest,  that workers be sent into His harvest field.  We believe HarvestNet is a key vehicle to train those workers.   The Lord Jesus commanded us to lift up our eyes and look on the ripe fields.  He also  directed  us to ask  for workers to go into the fields.  By enrolling in HarvestNet, you are asking to be raised up as one of God's trained workers.

StormNets.gif (21676 bytes) HarvestNet knits together a wide range of leaders from various backgrounds to work directly with the gifted and committed people who are willing to take the necessary steps to be trained to fulfill the Great Commission.  And  HarvestNet anticipates that the Lord will not only strengthen those nets, but widen them well beyond this region, to include all of Ohio and the nation.
If you know you are called to be a fisher of men, become a part of the HarvestNet.

HarvestNet Distinctive Values and Beliefs

HARVESTNET INSTITUTE embraces certain core biblical values which identify and shape our philosophy of ministry.  These values reflect not only God's redemptive purpose for our lives but also help focus our vision to see the Church prepared for effective ministry in the new millennium.  These values include the following:

  • Holding the Presence of the Lord as a premier value.
  • A rich diversity of local, city and regional church cooperation.
  • Relational training through practical internships and mentoring.
  • Valuing virtuous character, godly wisdom and charismatic gifting.
  • Embracing a vision of cross-cultural ministry to all nations.
  • Standing for the inerrancy of Scripture.
  • Training Eph. 4:11 ministries through information and impartation.
  • Networking locally, nationally and internationally for the Harvest.
  • Equipping workers to share the Gospel in word, deed and power.
  • Transformation of our churches, communities and our culture through regional revival.

Affirmation of Faith

In an effort to cooperate for a common purpose, and yet stand firmly for biblical orthodoxy, HarvestNet subscribes to the tenets of the Apostles' Creed, the Lausanne Covenant and the Chicago Statement on Biblical Inerrancy.

Brief History of HarvestNet

HarvestNet Institute was formed by several churches banding together in unity around Jesus Christ as Lord.  In December, 1997, leaders of six Cleveland-Akron area churches met to discuss plans for establishing local church-based training  schools which each  of them were contemplating  at the time.   It became readily apparent  that the Lord  had been speaking virtually the same thing to each of them.

Out of this realization, and the revelation that God was linking churches in cities, HarvestNet Institute was birthed.  Not only was the Lord unifying the Body of Christ in the Cleveland-Akron area by bringing these and other churches together, but He had plans to unite them further in a unique metropolitan venture designed to train and equip emerging leadership.  Although local, denominational and other distinctives do exist, God has brought them together in a unified vision to create a regional Bible-training center.

One Body/One Vision/One School:
HarvestNet Institute

Unity.gif (31952 bytes) HarvestNet represents a departure from many existing training centers. It is neither denominationally based nor associated with a particular  church.  HarvestNet is regionally  based,  administered  by numerous local church and business leaders in the Cleveland- Akron area, all of whom recognize that it is part of the one larger Body of Christ in this city-region.  The result is one vision and one school with a vision for Northeastern Ohio and beyond.
We genuinely believe that HarvestNet represents a new paradigm for training to meet the equipping   needs of the region now and the challenges of  the future to come. Our goal  is to see HarvestNet Institute serve the emerging  model of a cooperating, communicating,  cross-pollinating, and Christ-glorifying citywide Church, modeled as much as possible after the early church in the book of Acts.

Meeting the Need Providing the Solution

We Believe that the Church is God's chosen instrument to fulfill His purpose in the earth. We are commissioned to reach out to the lost, not only in our communities, but across cultures and in every society and nation throughout the world.  And we are called to lead the lost into relationship with Jesus Christ.

The Church is also called to develop spiritual leaders and and to mobilize the believing community.  The immediate need for trained workers and leadership is obvious and well recognized across the globe:

How long will it take to train the leaders needed in America?  The truth is that there aren't  enough seminaries and  bible schools anywhere to prepare for the impending  great harvest.  Without enlisting the local church to train up a generation of workers, it could take forever.  But can the local  church do it alone?  Or  more importantly, should it do it alone?  We at HarvestNet believe the answer is no.  We believe it requires a city-wide church to reap a city-wide harvest.

The city-wide church is a formidable force of talent, diversity, gifting and anointing.   In fact, it is within the city-wide church, throughout its local expression, that God has given "some to be apostles, some to be prophets, some to be evangelists, and some to be pastors and teachers, to prepare God's people for works of service..."(Ephesians 4:11).  It is in unity that the church has strength.    And it is in unity that the church has the ability to raise  up the leadership needed to reap the coming harvest.

It is this common vision of unity, strength and anointing which birthed HarvestNet:   A broad range of area church and marketplace leaders, diverse resources and thousands of people, coming together to meet the challenge to train the workers in this region. And by reaching into the greater Body of Christ, HarvestNet is able to provide the resources you need to fulfill your specific call in God.
